Bluebonnets
The bluebonnet is the
state flower of Texas. The scientific name for the bluebonnet is Lupinus
texensis. Many people also call the bluebonnet a buffalo clover, wolf flower,
and by many Mexicans, el conejo. This flower was adopted by the Texas Legislature
in 1901.
The Capitol: Austin
The capitol of Texas is Austin. The Republic
of Texas' Second Congress chose Austin
to be the now nation's capitol. However in 1842 the Republic moved the
capitol back to Houston. After Texas became a state,an election was held
and Austin became the permanent state capitol.
The Alamo
The siege and Battle of the Alamo lasted 13 days. The Alamo
is located in San Antonio, Texas. The Alamo served as a fortress during

Texas Flag
The Texas state flag
was first made to serve as the national flag for the Republic of Texas
in 1839. No one knows who designed this flag. It was the 4th flag out of
the 6 flags that once served as the National flags for Texas. In this flag,
the blue is for loyalty, the white is for strength, and the red is for
bravery.
